My brother featured in U.S. News and World Report!

Congratulations to my brother for being featured in the education section of U.S. News and World Report.  He is currently getting his E.M.B.A. from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor while working at Eli Lily and Co. in Indianapolis.  Where, by the way, he just became an advisor/team leader.  Our whole family is very proud of him and all of his achievements.  Check out the article here!

Fischgaard Short Film Project

I just wanted to mention the great Aberdeen event that is The Fischgaard 48 Hour Filming Competition.  Here’s what their site says about the event:

“The Fischgaard Short Film Project takes place once a year in Aberdeen, South Dakota. It’s mission is to motivate independent filmmakers and to enhance film as art in South Dakota. During the competition, filmmaking teams create a movie – writing, shooting and editing a four to seven minute film – all in one weekend.

It is open to professionals and amateurs alike. The films are adjudicated and awards are handed out following the public viewing.”

Free money

Your home is the single most important investment you’re going to make.  And you’re probably not going to live in the same house your entire life.  If you were a first-time home buyer like me, and took advantage of all the grants and free money- good for you!  Because it’s out there!  House number two, on the other hand, is going to need a down payment.

The value that your home increases is like free money. You’re going to need that extra built up equity to make your next down payment.  Yes, you can probably just hope for that 3 percent a year and pray nothing breaks down.  Or, maybe it’s time to start building more equity in your home.  How?  Remodel. Improve. Update.  It all makes a huge difference.  Kitchens and bathrooms? YES!   Hold off on the pool.
